Sounding Florida Program
December 20 (3-4 p.m.)
All ages are invited to participate in a Sounding Florida soundwalk at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium, in celebration of Winter Solstice. We begin at the Cox Amphitheater on the outdoor Science Trail—and go on a soundwalk along an outside path, while using safe physical distancing (10-15 min.). We return to the Cox Amphitheater, where we talk about what we experienced during the soundwalk. Then participants create soundwalk-inspired haiku collages, while audio of the soundscape outside SFSC is recorded and streamed online. This program, which is one of a number of Sounding Florida programs that happen the day before and on Winter Solstice, is being led by local educator and artist Dan Godston.
The program is included in general science center admission. To participate, just meet us in the backyard by the Cox Amphitheater by 3pm.
