The ASCEND (Advancing STEM-Community Engagement through Neuroscience Discovery) NeuroExplorers program is a semester-long learning opportunity at STEM Studio in Jupiter for kids grades 6-8 made possible by the Florida Atlantic University Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute.
Led by professional neuroscientists and their trainees, using cutting-edge educational tools including hands-on virtual and augmented reality applications, participants will be provided biweekly neuroscience lessons and activities virtually. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to learn outside of STEM Studio through virtual resources including podcasts featuring recent neuroscience discoveries, brain games, and 360o science videos. Participants will learn about neuroscience with lessons building from cells, to neural networks, to brain disorders. Attendees will graduate as Jr. Neuroscientists and meet active neuroscientists on a lab tour!
Who can join: Middle school students ONLY
Program cost: $50 per registrant for the entire semester.
Important note: NeuroExplorers is continuous throughout the semester to create continuity and a community of learners and doers. Students are required to attend all sessions to graduate in December.
