The ASCEND (Advancing STEM-Community Engagement through Neuroscience Discovery) NeuroExplorers program is a semester-long learning opportunity at STEM Studio in Jupiter for kids grades 6-8 made possible by the Florida Atlantic University Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute.
Led by professional neuroscientists and their trainees and using cutting-edge educational tools, including hands-on virtual and augmented reality applications, kids will be provided bimonthly neuroscience lessons and activities at STEM Studio in Abacoa. In addition, kids will have the opportunity to learn outside STEM Studio through virtual resources, including podcasts and webcasts featuring recent neuroscience discoveries, brain games, and 360o science videos. Kids will learn about neuroscience, with lessons building from cells, to neural networks, to brain disorders. Attendees will graduate as Jr. Neuroscientists and tour a lab where they will meet working scientists!
The FAU Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute ASCEND program makes health its top priority, and we strive to ensure the health and well-being of our participants. We will monitor the COVID-19 reports closely throughout the semester and make changes to the program accordingly.
